DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy is a leading non-surgical alternative for disc-related syndromes of the lumbar and cervical spine.  DTS Therapy uses simple, yet sophisticated equipment, manufactured by the leading rehabilitation equipment manufacturer in the United States, The Chattanooga Group.  Dr. Iafrate tries to remain the most technologically advanced and researched, in order to provide the best treatment available.  Dr. Iafrate has been trained extensively as a Kennedy Certified Decompression Therapy Practitioner.  This is the most trusted and used continuing education certificate used in North America.  The course is administered by one of the modern day pioneers of spinal decompression.

If you have lower back pain, a pinched nerve, sciatica, neck pain, or a variety of symptoms related to damaged or degenerative discs, this gentle, non-surgical therapy can provide lower back pain relief, sciatica pain relief, and is a state-of-the-art therapy for neck pain relief, bulging or degenerative disc disease, and lumbar pain.

Mechanical decompression is a rehabilitation program that gently stretches the spine and takes pressure off compressed discs and vertebrae.  This technique has shown the ability to gently separate the vertebrae from each other, creating a vacuum inside the discs.  This "vacuum effect" is also known as negative intradiscal pressure.  The negative pressure can transfer disc material off the nerves that are producing discomfort, which in turn allows for pain relief.  It happens only microscopically each time, but cumulatively, over four to six weeks, the results can be quite dramatic.  The repetition of decompression allows the movement of water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids from the outside to the inside of the discs.  These nutrients enable the torn and degenerated disc fibres to begin to heal.
