The Basics

At Iafrate Chiropractic  we take a unique approach to health care by looking beyond symptoms. Chiropractic is a healthcare discipline that believes in the inherent recuperative abilities of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. We seek to uncover and address the source of pain and discomfort, and work to bring your body to a state that’s not simply pain-free, but optimized to handle whatever life throws at you next.

Chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal system.  Chiropractors usually  treat disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and external joints. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. What is often missing is the role of the nervous system in pain and healing. The nervous system supplies vital information to the muscles, joints and organs in your body. It also coordinates the bodily functions, stress hormones, healing and immunity. When your nervous system is not functioning well, it may prevent healing and/or cause pain to persist even once the local area has apparently healed.

Chiropractic is a core piece of fitness and health at every age. From the newborn to grandparents, health can be improved by restoring the body’s communication.

How Do We Achieve Optimal Results?
At Iafrate Chiropractic & Wellness, we follow a structured approach to achieve optimal results. After your detailed examination, the doctor will determine your best recommendations for care based on your individual results and goals. We all know that healing doesn’t happen overnight. Healing occurs in phases, and each phase requires the commitment of time and lifestyle change to achieve lasting results. In general, healing occurs in 3 progressive phases.

Phase 1: Intensive/Relief Care

Initially, our objective is to determine the root cause of your pain, stop the damage, and start the healing process. During this phase, you should also experience significant pain and discomfort improvement. We will measure and monitor your progress to determine when you are ready to graduate to the next phase of care.

Phase 2: Corrective Care

During the corrective care phase, the spine, nerves, and muscles receive re-training to stabilize your weak areas. Also, you may be introduced to posture correction, stretching, strengthening as well as other healthy, wellness, lifestyle practices to accelerate your results. We continue to measure your improvement as you set new goals.

Phase 3: Wellness/ Protective Care

The goal in the wellness/protective phase of care is to keep you out of pain and continue to thrive for higher levels of health and function. Life is busy and stressful; wellness chiropractic care helps you adapt to stresses avoiding a health crisis. Like exercise, chiropractic is a great lifestyle strategy to help maintain a well functioning body.
