At Iafrate Chiropractic we take a unique approach to health care by looking beyond symptoms. Chiropractic is a healthcare discipline that believes in the inherent recuperative abilities of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. We seek to uncover and address the source of pain and discomfort, and work to bring your body to a state that’s not simply pain-free, but optimized to handle whatever life throws at you next.
Chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal system. Chiropractors usually treat disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and external joints. The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. What is often missing is the role of the nervous system in pain and healing. The nervous system supplies vital information to the muscles, joints and organs in your body. It also coordinates the bodily functions, stress hormones, healing and immunity. When your nervous system is not functioning well, it may prevent healing and/or cause pain to persist even once the local area has apparently healed.
Chiropractic is a core piece of fitness and health at every age. From the newborn to grandparents, health can be improved by restoring the body’s communication.
During your first visit, we will go through an extensive history to uncover potential root causes or additional issues that must be addressed for optimal healing and health.
We will perform orthopedic and neurological testing to ensure we have a correct diagnosis. We may also send for X-rays to ensure structural integrity.
The most advanced neurological scanning technology available. The primary goal of scanning is to detect hidden patterns of damaging stress to the body. Scanning allows us to track changes and then observe improvement. It’s important to recognize that patients have been tolerating change for years before they have symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments ignite new neural and muscular activity while restoring greater nerve control.
Kinetisense is a cutting-edge markerless motion capture technology that enables your chiropractor to analyse your body movement. This information will allow for a better precise treatment. This will help you move better, improve performance and reduce Injury.
This technology uses 3D posture analysis, 3D range of motion and 3D motion assessment.
This helps with seniors with balance testing, concussion evaluation and sports performance.
Lifestyle stress and subluxations affect the balance of the Autonomic Nervous System and impact a patient’s ability to adapt. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) testing is today’s gold standard to analyze the overall effects of stress and anxiety in patients of any age. Scans heart rate, temperature and anxiety simultaneously, to calculate Heart Rate Variability (HRV).
Scanning the spine using infrared technology creates a thermographic image, which identifies areas of poor autonomic nerve regulation.
Thermographic scanning detects patterns of unbalanced temperature regulation. In less than 30 seconds, a full spine scan provides invaluable information on how spinal stress can trigger deeper health issues. Measures autonomic spinal nerve control of organs, glands and blood vessels.
The INSiGHT neuroCORE accurately measures spinal muscle tone showing how exhausting postural shifts and subluxations can be. It can show wasted energy from improper muscle balance.
Get the accuracy of heart rate variability, electromyography and thermography combined into a single number health score delivered with an easy-to-understand reports. This report will tell us how well your body is adapting to stress.
The Kinetisense 3D posture system is the only posture analysis system in the world that analyzes the frontal, sagittal, and transverse planes with a single front-facing sensor.
Whatever the patient’s need—standing posture analysis or sitting—Kinetisense provides the objective assessment that practitioners need to offer effective treatment.
Whereas active ROM relies on an individual moving their joint through a ROM without assistance, passive ROM is exactly the opposite. Kinetisense allows for truly objective and measurable results that reduce the need for doctors to “eyeball” results and allows doctors to show what they are seeing.
From improving strength and flexibility in athletes to helping patients with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, frozen shoulder, or myalgia, Kinetisense enables better outcomes and more effective treatment and training.
Balance testing for performance, concussion baseline, and reassessment or geriatric risk of fall has been limited to eyeballing or using a force plate. Eyeballing balance has its inherent limitations as it is subjective, while force plate technologies only give insight on foot pressure change and give no information on the body segment that is generating the most sway.
With Kinetisense, measuring balance in a standardized and objective way enables superior training and better patient outcomes. With Kinetisense, you will have access to a tool that offers universal data-driven accuracy among your clients and patients.
Our system allows the analysis of any front-facing position with hundreds of variations. Every human body is unique, and each body has its own mobility and stability capabilities. Analyze human movement in real time and all three planes of movement.
A golf swing, hockey slap shot, body building movements and even desk position can be analyzed. This movement can be improved to prevent injury.

Wellness Lifestyle
Spinal Decompression Therapy is performed on a specially designed table and you are placed on your stomach or back depending on exam results and comfort. You will have a tightly fitted harness around your chest and pelvic area that is attached to the decompression pulley. The computer will be programmed and the patient is given a stop switch. The switch stops the procedure if discomfort is felt. Most patients report a sensation of a slight pull or stretch in their lower back and hips. Most patients fall asleep and have a sense of relief and relaxation post treatment.
The stretch and relaxation of the disc produces an event called “imbibition.” In short, imbibition is described as how the disc absorbs nutrients, water and vital collagen to promote healing. It is this vital pumping motion that allows this to happen. Imbibition occurs naturally in a healthy disc daily, through motion and positions we obtain. This accounts for the phenomenon of our discs being larger in the morning than the evening. The more the disc becomes injured over our life, the less imbibition occurs through the disc. Tractioning the spine allows for a controlled method of re-establishing some of the lost imbibition that occurs over time. The theory of traction is that we can help heal the disc from the inside out.
The decompression of the disc can potentially retract disc bulges and take pressure off of “pinched” nerves. Most patients report dramatic reduction of pain in as few as 5-6 treatments, yet the spinal discs require additional time to properly heal. This is why it is so important to remain consistent with your treatment protocol. Many research studies state that in order to completely heal a disc, one must adhere to a regular program of home exercises prescribed by their doctor. It took months to years to become injured and it will take the same amount of time to heal fully. Movement is life and the strength of the supporting spinal muscular is necessary to keep creating fluid movement to and from the disc. The patient will produce a daily log. This will help us evaluate improvement and determine which activities are aggravating the patient.
Over the extended time our patients are in pain, de-conditioning of the spinal stabilizers and compensation from other muscle groups occur. Therefore, when the pain has re-missed and is under control, healing is not complete. It is necessary to rehabilitate the structures that support the disc in order to maintain the pain relief. During the treatments, your doctor will prescribe a rehabilitation program to fully heal the disc and keep the pain from returning. We must address all issues that contributed to your initial lower back pain, which is a decrease in spinal flexibility and poor muscular control. We will give you simple and pain free activities that allow you to monitor and control spinal motion and reclaim proper movement patterns. We cannot overemphasis the importance of home rehabilitation as this is the key for continued success. The whole body is a unit that works together and in this stage, we must have nutritional and lifestyle changes to prevent further flare ups.
During this phase of treatment, we will develop an extensive exercise program that will help bring your body to optimal well being. This will include resistance training, stabilization training and other core muscle training. The consistence of the home based exercise is a key for long term relief. These exercises can speed up healing and are the keystone to the DTS Therapy system. After an extensive examination, along with a diagnosis, the doctor will provide all treatment options and offer information on which treatment would work best for you. Certain patients are not candidates for spinal decompression therapy, such as ones with: Tumours, Abdominal Aortic Aneurism, Fractures, and Metal Implants/Screws/Plates in the spine, advanced Osteoporosis, Pregnancy or certain diseases that compromise the structural integrity of the spine and disc. These patients are a small percentage of the population and will be given different treatment options. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact my office at any time.
Radial shockwave therapy (RSWT) is a method for the treatment of superficial orthopedic disorders developed over the past 20 years. A projectile accelerated in the handpiece generates a mechanical pressure wave, which is transferred to the human body by an applicator head and which radiates out in the tissue. The mechanical energy is absorbed by the tissue and decreases as the distance from the application site increases. The mechanical stress triggers reactions in the tissue that have a positive influence on a wide range of orthopedic and neurological conditions.

If you are like many people suffering from chronic pain, inflammation, or certain diseases and have tried other more common treatments or therapies without relief, perhaps it’s time to consider FDA-approved Cold Laser Treatment. This kind of therapy can significantly accelerate and enhance your body’s natural defense and repair components.
Cold Laser Treatment is done with a handheld, noninvasive, light emitting medical device used in the treatment of several soft and connective tissue disorders and certain neurological disorders. Unlike other lasers that produce heat and thermo-destructive laser energy, Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is also known as “cold laser.”
The FDA cleared Cold Laser Therapy as a form of phototherapy or light therapy. The cold laser device produces a beam of light, which is applied over the injured area to stimulate healing in a pain-free manner. The laser light triggers biological reactions in the cells producing chemical substances that are released into the blood flow and carried throughout the body causing some patients to experience relief in more than the treated area.
Here are some of the beneficial results of cold laser treatments:
Since Cold Laser Therapy can stimulate all cell types including muscle, ligament, cartilage, nerves, etc., it can be used to treat a variety of conditions including:
